Privacy policy
This policy covers philblakemore.com. It explains what personal data the site collects, why, how long it is kept and what you can ask me to do with it.
Who is responsible
Phil Blakemore, trading as philblakemore.com, is the data controller for this site. I am based in Northern Ireland, United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, email info@philblakemore.com.
What the contact form collects
When you send a message through the contact form, the following is submitted:
- Your name and email address, which are required so I can reply.
- Your organisation and store URL, if you choose to give them.
- The role, type of work and timeline you select.
- The message you write.
- Where you say you found me and any detail you add, if you choose to answer.
When you arrive on the site, the address of the page that linked here, the first page you landed on and any campaign tags in the link are kept in your browser's session storage for the length of your visit. The linking address is kept without its query string, so search terms are not recorded. These details are sent with the form if you submit it, and are used only to understand which channels enquiries come from. This is first party: no third party receives it, and it is cleared when you close the tab.
Your IP address is also recorded briefly, purely to rate limit submissions and block automated abuse. It is not used to identify you and is not linked to your enquiry.
Why, and on what legal basis
I use this information to reply to your enquiry and, if it goes further, to scope and quote the work. The legal basis is legitimate interest: you contacted me about a possible project and a reply is what you are expecting. If we go on to work together, the basis becomes performance of a contract.
I do not sell your data, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list. There is no newsletter.
Who processes it
- Resend delivers the enquiry to my inbox and sends your confirmation email. Mail is sent from a domain hosted in the EU (eu-west-1).
- My web host runs the site on shared hosting and keeps standard server logs.
- Google Analytics 4 measures site usage, and only once you have given consent. See below.
- Adobe Fonts serves the heading typeface. Your browser fetches it from Adobe, which receives your IP address and counts the page view for font licensing. Adobe Fonts sets no cookies.
- Google Calendar handles call bookings if you use the booking link. It opens on Google’s site, and Google’s own privacy policy applies to what you enter there.
Analytics and cookies
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which parts of a page get read. Nothing is loaded until you choose. The Google tag is only requested after you accept, so if you decline, no analytics request is made and no analytics cookie is set. The only third-party request is the Adobe Fonts typeface, which sets no cookies.
Advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalisation
are refused by default. Your choice is stored in your browser for
180 days under the key pb-consent, and you can change
it at any time using the Cookies button in the footer. Withdrawing
consent also clears the analytics cookies already set.
No other tracking is used. There is no advertising pixel, session recorder or heatmap on this site.
How long it is kept
Enquiry emails stay in my mailbox while the enquiry is live and for up to 24 months afterwards, so I can pick up a conversation that restarts. Records relating to paid work are kept for six years, which is the period UK tax records must be retained. Rate limiting records are discarded within hours.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask me to give you a copy of the data I hold about you, correct it, delete it, or restrict how I use it, and you can object to my relying on legitimate interest. Email info@philblakemore.com and I will respond within one month.
If you are not satisfied, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published here. Last updated 4 October 2026.
